The iPhone XR is IP67 water-resistant, which means it can withstand 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. However, this feature is intended more with emergencies or accidents in mind – water-resistant is not water-proof.
In fact, your iPhone is not covered for water damage in its warranty. And since water damage can be permanently fatal, every time you take your phone for a swim you’re taking a big risk.
