We’re all human, and things are bound to get a little sticky now and again — case in point, your iPhone XS and an unfortunate collision with a can of soda. Luckily, the XS has a dust- and water-resistance rating of IP68, meaning it can withstand splashes all sorts of sticky stuff like soda and beer.
Water-resistant doesn’t mean waterproof. However – the new model might survive a dip in around 6 feet of water, but its best kept dry. We’ve seen enough people come in with liquid-damaged water-resistant phones to make our advice very clear: DO NOT submerge your phone in water.
If it does take an accidental dip, ensure that you don’t charge the phone for at least 3-4 hours. And if it was saltwater, rinse it off first with fresh water. Salt water and electronics are not friends.
If you suspect your iPhone XS may have liquid damage, follow these steps:
Step One – Turn off the phone. Give it a shake to remove excess water.
Step Two – Do not turn your phone back on!
